Dance Gavin Dance releases a craft beer

Dance Gavin Dance is taking a dive into the craft beer industry, but only for one weekend.

The post-hardcore band collaborated with the brewer foreign.local to create their own strawberry milkshake beer. It’s to be sold exclusively at Windmill Brewing in Dyer, Indiana. The band and brewery announced the news on social media on Thursday and Friday.

It has 8 percent alcohol and features strawberry gummy bears. It’s $17 per four pack and customers are only allowed up to four, four packs. It can be purchased for $6 for a 10 ounce pour, according to foreign.local’s Facebook page.

The inspiration for the IPA’s flavor is taken from their Strawberry Swisher song series, “Strawberry Swisher Pt. 1.” The can art is taken from their album “Happiness” which features the first installment of the song. The artwork is done by Swedish illustrator Mattias Adolfsson, who has done the album art for most of their records.

This isn’t Dance Gavin Dance’s first time selling food or drinks modeled after their music. The band released a limited edition pico de gallo salsa in 2016 after a line in their song “Chucky vs. The Giant Tortoise” off their album “Mothership.”

In 2017, they released a literal chocolate jackalope just in time for Easter. It was packaged under a spring bundle and was limited to 250. This was made in reference to their song “Chocolate Jackalope” also off of Mothership.

Other bands have done food/drink related products. Welsh melodic hardcore band Casey released their limited edition “Mourning Brew” coffee in October 2018.
